Yes, prejudice. While Republican Scott Brown supports a medical “conscience exemption” for ER personnel, Democrat Martha Coakley said this, “If people believe that they don’t want to provide services that are required under the law and under Roe v. Wade, that they can individually decide to not follow the law. The answer is no.” But what about religious freedom? Say for example, that you’re a catholic and could not conscientiously participate in an Emergency Room abortion. The report at deaconjohn.spaces.live.com answers:
Coakley conceded that point [religious freedom] but hastened to add, “you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.” Translated: You really don’t have a right to exercise your religious liberty objections.
Coakley was Massachusetts’ Attorney General. Somebody should check into her religious liberty defense record. Pronto.
THEN, AND EVEN MORE STARKLY, check out the video of Coakley’s political strategy consultant Michael Meehan accosting Weekly Standard reporter John McCormack (courtesy of youtube.com):
The 2005 23-month Sexual Abuse Scandal and Martha Coakley Attorney General office:
- As Massachusetts’ Attorney General, Coakley did not secure a Grand Jury indictment on the sexual assault of a 23-month old baby with a curling iron, putting the baby in the hospital for a month! Video with fox’s Sean Hannity (8 minutes).
- DSS report 10/17/2005 recommended criminal prosecution, but as of 1/12/2006 – nearly 3 months later – Coakley’s office prevented criminal action from being pursued on behalf of the baby’s mother.
- Finally in May, a Grand Jury was convened, and evidence was presented, Coakley’s office dismissed the Grand Jury, but they falsely stated that the Grand Jury failed to indict!
- Coakley’s office actively discounted the baby’s reactions as evidence. Remember, this is the District Attorney’s office – NOT the defense attorney!
- Although Winfield ultimately received TWO Life Sentences, Coakley’s office recommended the perpetrator be released without bail!
Unbelievable? Outrageous? Disgusting? How about Obama’s recommendation of this woman in his campaign video for her:
“She represents the best progressive values of Massachusetts. She’ll be your voice, and my ally. … by replacing Ted Kennedy with her Republican opponent, they’ll be in a position to tie up the Senate, and prevent a vote, on health insurance reform, financial reform… Knock on doors, call email, text and tweet, and make sure everyone you know understands the stakes for families, Massachusetts and our country.”
Need we say more?
Call ALL your friends in Massachusetts. And your friends who have friends in Massachusetts. Talk to them. Please?
Talk to them on behalf of that 23-month old baby whose abuser Coakley in effect actually defended.
And talk to them for the millions of seniors whose Health Care will be desperately at risk.
A news notice after the 2006 trial:
A former Somerville police officer convicted of raping a 23-month-old child last month was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday.
A jury found that Keith Winfield, 31, used a hot object to rape his wife’s niece on Oct. 13, 2005 while he babysat the girl and his own infant daughter. On Tuesday, the child’s mother submitted a victim impact statement read by Assistant District Attorney Beth Merachnik. In it, she said her daughter still talks about the attack.
“She has told numerous people, ‘Uncle Keith burned me,’” she said.
She said her daughter has changed from a “fun loving carefree little girl” to a “reserved but aggressive” child since the rape. She said the now 4-year-old girl may need further surgery as she grows up and her body develops. And Winfield, she said, should suffer for what he did.
“I think Keith should sit in jail forever. I want him to rot and think how he ruined his own niece’s life,” she said.
And really, talk to them for ALL of America, whose freedom and liberty are profoundly at stake Tuesday. Tomorrow. Do it right away! Wake them up, if that’s what it will take! It’s truly a matter of life and death – not just for one child, important as one is. But for millions.
