Tim Cahill, Massachusetts State Treasurer in the Boston Herald -
State Treasurer Tim Cahill, taking swipes at both Gov. Deval
Patrick and President Obama, boosted his bipartisan chops yesterday, telling Herald columnist Howie Carr on WRKO, “I voted for John McCain, believe it or not.”
Cahill, saying he was barred from the 2008 Democratic National Convention because he wouldn’t endorse either Obama or Hillary Clinton, said, “My own party basically voted me out.”
“I was afraid of what we had already been getting in Massachusetts, and at that point in 2008, I was aware that it wasn’t working,” he said.

I’ve included below a list of 37 House Democrats who are wavering on ObamaCare. The list is courtesy of Jay Cost and The Hill. Let’s put pressure on these Democrats and tell them to oppose the Senate’s government-run health care legislation.
- Rep. Jason Altmire (D-PA) Phone: 202-225-2565
- Rep. John Boccieri (D-OH) Phone: 202-225-3876
- Rep. Alan Boyd (D-FL) Phone: 202-225-5235
- Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper (D-PA) Phone: 202-225-5406
- Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D-IN) Phone: 202-225-4636
That last one, Ellsworth, actually voted “yes” last time. But he’s running for US Senate in Indiana and has expressed apprehension about taxpayer funds for abortion, which are provided in the legislation. He also has a national debt clock on his website, so he needs to show himself concerned about the climbing debt. Tell him you oppose federal tax dollars for abortion and know the legislation will increase the national debt. The same goes for Dahlkemper, by the way.
- Rep. Baron Hill (D-IN) Phone: 202-225-5315
Hill also voted for the legislation last time. The same that applies for Ellsworth and Dahlmeper applies for Hill.
- Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-PA) Phone: 202-225-6511
Kamjorski is another interesting case. He voted for the legislation last time and appears to have no apprehensions about debt. However, he supposedly has a pro-life record and voted against nationalizing the student loan industry. Both student loan nationalization and abortion funding are in the current legislation. Mention both.
- Rep. Glenn Nye (D-VA) Phone: 202-225-4215
- Rep. Tom Perriello (D-VA) Phone: 202-225-4711
Perriello also voted “yes” last time, but he’s expressed serious concern about abortion funding in the current version.
- Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) Phone: 202-225-2611
Another previous “yes” vote. Pomeroy is an endangered Democrat in November, however, and — like others on this list — has expressed concern about abortion funding in the current version.
- Rep. John Tanner (D-TN) Phone: 202-225-4714
Tanner is retiring in 2010 but still isn’t a fan of ObamaCare. A call is to his office is more of a reassurance than major concern. Still, make the call if you can.
For the rest of them, threaten to vote against them if you live in their district. Threaten that your family members will if they live there, or even if they don’t but you’re not being asked for details. Otherwise, tell them how enthusiastically you’ll commit yourself to their defeat if they support this government-run health care with abortion funding.
Those 11 are a great start and you’ll probably run out of time for today. I’ll have the rest of the list posted soon.
